Reinserta

The Heartbreaking Reality of Motherhood in Prison.

2024 Cannes Lion Silver Winner

Around 500 children (an estimate by Reinserta) are born in prison every year. They can live in prison alongside their mother, for three years -- only to be separated from them on their 3rd birthday. Grey Mexico and Reinserta made people aware of a problem that otherwise is invisible in Mexico.

A Film that Breaks Down Prison Bars

Famous

Grey Mexico and Reinserta portrayed a raw story in an intimate way. The moment of a child's 3rd birthday became the perfect opportunity to talk about how a mother in prison has to say goodbye and separate from her child, going beyond the prejudice that Mexicans have towards mothers in prison, the film demonstrates how a mother gives everything for her children, in or out of prison.
